Community Connection: CB Bain Tacoma joins Duck Daze festivities

Coldwell Banker Bain Tacoma Main joins Duck DazeWhat a great weekend we had in University Place, WA last weekend. Coldwell Banker Bain was thrilled to have participated in the 2014 Duck Daze festival. This annual community event began as a way of celebrating the end of the rainy season. The yellow duck was adopted as the symbol of the parade and has become the community mascot.

The parade route along Bridgeport went right past our Tacoma Main office and ended at the UP Town Cruisin’ 2014 Car Show.

The Coldwell Banker Bain spirit was hard to miss, we had great participation from our brokers and staff. We were fortunate to have a vintage fire truck on loan from Bruce Titus Automotive Group. The truck made a fantastic backdrop/prop for photographs for both young and old.

We had a great time at our booth meeting people from  the community giving away pinwheels, balloons, candy and playing games with the children. We were among over 90 exhibitors with all kinds of fun activities. There was everything from a live parrot show, free rock wall climbing, bounce houses, food vendors, rubber duck races, pony rides and Caribbean style steel drums. The weather was picture perfect and it was a  great kick off to summer! If you haven’t attended this event plan to join us next year!

What do you do with all of your unwanted stuff when you remodel?

Habitat for Humanity StoreIt’s that time of year again when we all think about spring cleaning and remodeling!  So what do you do with the stuff you no longer need?

Did you know the Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Store accepts donations of new or gently used building materials, furniture, appliances, and hardware that are clean and in 100% working condition?

Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable homeownership opportunities to families in need and eliminating substandard housing in our community.  Your donation to the Habitat Store is tax-deductible. In addition, by donating items to the Store you are providing our community with a source of low-cost goods while also reducing the quantity of material going into landfills.

You may drop off your donations during business hours or arrange for a free pickup. Please call the Store at 253-779-8149 if you have questions about donations or to schedule a pick up.  The Tacoma location is a S. Tacoma Way.

There are some restrictions so a call ahead is recommended. Free donation pickup: The Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Store now offers free donation pick up on Saturdays in Tacoma, Lakewood, and University Place. Items they always love to receive include:

  • Cabinets – Must have all drawers and doors attached with no water damage
  • Vanities – Must have all doors and drawers attached; no damage; if counter top and sink are attached they must be in good condition
  • Sinks
  • Doors
  • Tools – Power tools must be in working condition

Yesterday I attended the Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS ® luncheon to witness Pat Brewer of Coldwell Banker Bain Tacoma, receive the TPCAR, Special Achievement Award.   Pat’s commitment to the Association of REALTORS ® and her list of committee participation and achievements is admirable.

In 2013 Pat served as the TPCAR President. Her dedication to the membership program is key to the success in collecting membership dues so that offices and members may continue to use the REALTORS ® designation. Her vision and dedication with the Leadership Academy is unmatched. Her willingness week after week to share key member benefits and REALTOR ® facts with the brokers in our CB Bain Tacoma office is a great asset for our team. Pat is also dedicated to speaking at new member orientations.

Actively serving on the Women’s Council of REALTORS ® to participate in the Hill Day two day event, as well as her yearlong commitment to the legislature is outstanding. She even makes time for the REALTOR ® golf tournament.

Pat’s involvement doesn’t stop there, she has also served on many of the task force committee for Washington REALTORS ®. She chairs the Business and Consumer Affairs, a sub committee of Legislative Steering, she has been a major RPAC investor/contributor for many years and she is a member of the Realtor Honor Society since it was founded.

Pat is also the Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Adam Smith, recognized by the National Association of REALTORS ® as well as a key contact for our local legislators Tammy Green and Steve Kirby.

You will frequently find Pat at community forums speaking on behalf of the REALTORS ® organization. It comes natural to Pat to share and spread the word about the Realtor organization to show just how beneficial it is to be a member and supporter!

Congratulations Pat we are so very proud of you!
